Make this keepsake in under 10 minutes with just card stock 🤍
No frame. No fancy tools. Just a simple silhouette ornament you can make at home.
Here’s exactly how I made this ornament in Canva.
⚠️You do need Canva Pro for this, but you can usually grab a free 30-day trial. ⚠️
How to make it:
1. Take a side profile photo of your child against a blank background
2. Open a blank 8.5 x 11 flyer in Canva and upload the photo
3. Click on the photo and select BG Remover
4. Crop the photo to just below the shoulders
5. Go to Edit photo > Duotone and adjust highlights and shadows to pure black (#000000 )
6. Search “wave shape”, add it to the bottom of the silhouette, tilt slightly, and change it to white
7. Add the name and year below the silhouette (Name font: Westonia, Year font: Cormorant SC)
8. Search “oval gold picture” and select the frame you like, I used a very simple one because I found it looked the most realistic
9. Click Effects > Shadows > Drop shadow
10. Resize to about 4 inches (or your preferred size so you can fit four per page)
11. Download as PDF and print on card stock using your home printer
12. Cut out and laminate if you’d like extra stability
13. Hole-punch and attach ribbon for hanging 🎄
