My Birth Story ✨🫶
I can say for the most part EVERY mom has a story to tell whether it’s before, during, or after birth …
•••here’s mine , for starters I’m an HG mom also know as “Hyperemesis Gravidarum” so I’m constantly sick with the “morning sickness” for my ENTIRE pregnancy this go round I had a picc line 🫠 I also have incompetent cervix so I had a small surgery to stitch it up to carry my babies full term. I always had it in my mind I would give birth without medication and I did just that , thankfully I had a I believe it’s called “spontaneous birth” so I felt absolutely nothing until I delivered her…. after birth I was bleeding/clotting and the nurse told me it was normal I was fine . so once we got into the “postpartum room/family room I could not sit up on my butt so I hardly got to hold my baby in the hospital. So as the night goes on I have this pain in my butt and I’m moaning and groaning about it and my mom was there who knows I have a high pain tolerance and said something isn’t right this isn’t her . I decided to get up and go sit on the toilet to see if I could sit up without fully sitting on my butt and I was sitting and going in and out (my boyfriend was literally in my face and couldn’t hear him) then I felt something pass into the toilet but I thought nothing of it I keep saying I was getting hot so my mom said well let her and my boyfriend get me up and help me back to the bed the moment I get up and step out of the bathroom my mom seen the huge clot and I remember seeing her run but I passed out so I couldn’t even tell where or what was said and when I finally came back I was in the bed and surrounded by nurses asking questions, taking vitals, giving me medication and etc. my mom knew I was hemorrhaging and was so close to leaving to go get some rest but thank god she stayed and I tell myself to this day I am so thankful I didn’t get the epidural because I wouldn’t have felt none of it and only god knows how that outcome would’ve been 😅 now I have a 2 year old and still think about whether or not I want one more 😅🙃🫣😂
Navigating pregnancy and childbirth can be a daunting experience, especially for moms with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). HG is a severe form of morning sickness that can lead to extreme nausea and vomiting, making it difficult for mothers to maintain their health and the health of their baby. Many women with HG require medical interventions, such as intravenous (IV) fluids or medications, to sustain themselves during pregnancy. Understanding the risks involved, including postpartum hemorrhage, is essential. Moms should be aware of the signs of excessive bleeding after delivery and when to seek help. It's also crucial to have a supportive network during and after childbirth, as these experiences can be overwhelming. Documenting your birth story can encourage other mothers facing similar challenges to share their experiences and foster a community of support. By sharing these narratives, mothers can find solace in knowing they are not alone, and this can be therapeutic in processing their journey through motherhood. Consider the options available to manage symptoms of HG, including dietary changes, hydration, and discussing potential treatment plans with healthcare providers. Education and preparation are vital—attending prenatal classes or seeking support groups for HG mothers can significantly enhance a mom's experience. By breaking the silence around challenging birth stories, we contribute to a more extensive dialogue about motherhood that uplifts and empowers women everywhere.
