I literally never thought i’d be able to actually pull this off tbh #slowrunning #slowrunnersclub #sub45 #getfitwithme #midsizerunner #diaryofaslowrunner
Starting a running journey, especially as a slow runner, can feel daunting, but from my experience, consistency trumps speed initially. I found that committing to regular workouts and monitoring my pace carefully helped me improve steadily. One important lesson was that pacing is everything. During my runs, I noticed significant fluctuations; mile three was my slowest due to pushing too hard earlier. I realized that maintaining an even, sustainable pace is key instead of sprinting early and burning out. Using a treadmill helped me track my progress accurately. For example, I managed a 7:32-minute pace at one point—my personal best—even though my average was slower. This showed me the potential within and where I needed to focus my training. I also learned that rest and recovery matter. My muscles needed time to adapt, so I incorporated rest days and light workouts. Managing my diet by avoiding “eating like shit” was crucial to fueling my runs effectively. For anyone starting out, it’s okay to be a slow runner. The #slowrunnersclub isn’t about speed; it’s about perseverance and celebrating progress. Documenting your journey, like keeping a diary or sharing with a community, keeps motivation high. Looking ahead, I’m aiming to break 40 minutes next. It’s motivating to set new goals and observe improvements over time. Remember, every runner’s pace is subjective, and success comes from personal growth, not comparison. If you’re starting or struggling with running, focus on consistency, track your pacing, eat well, and celebrate each milestone—no matter how small. Your progress matters.
