Class is in session. #midsizerunner #biggirlswhorun #runningmotivation #runninghumour
Starting a running routine can feel intimidating, especially if you’re a midsize or plus-size runner like me. One thing I’ve learned is that breathing technique makes a huge difference. For example, expanding your diaphragm by raising your hands overhead can help you breathe deeper and cough out more efficiently after exertion. Another quirky yet effective trick I found is to push your tongue to the roof of your mouth where there’s a small indent. This surprisingly opens your sinuses and makes it harder to breathe through your mouth, encouraging nasal breathing which is better for endurance. Also, don’t be discouraged by initial setbacks. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, from giving up too soon to misjudging pace. But through trial and error, I’ve found a groove that turns running from a chore into a pleasure. Remember, it’s all about finding what works for you, staying motivated, and finding humor in the hard parts. Running communities like #midsizerunner and #biggirlswhorun are fantastic for support and encouragement. Joining these can connect you with others who share your journey and bring a dose of fun and motivation. So, put on your running shoes, laugh off the mishaps, and enjoy the process of becoming a runner on your terms!
