Don’t be like me, plz stretch after your runs 😅 #postrunroutine #runningera @Cira @OUAI @Dae Hair @First Aid Beauty @HOKA @VaniCreamLLC @Dove Beauty & Personal Care @amika
After finishing my runs, I've realized the importance of having a consistent post-run routine that not only helps my body recover but also boosts my overall well-being. One of the biggest takeaways is how crucial stretching is—it helps prevent stiffness and improves flexibility, which I admittedly tend to skip sometimes. Incorporating gentle stretches targeting the legs, hips, and lower back has made a noticeable difference in reducing post-run soreness. Aside from stretching, my routine involves a careful hair and skincare regimen. Since I have curly hair, I follow a curl routine immediately after running, which includes scrunching and plopping techniques to maintain my curls’ shape while managing sweat and humidity effects. It’s a quick method that keeps my hair healthy and defined without spending too much time. Also, hydration is key. I prefer replenishing with electrolytes and greens-based drinks, as running can deplete vital minerals. It helps me feel more energized and supports muscle recovery. Interestingly, I avoid jumping straight into a hot shower after a cold run, because it can strain the body. Instead, I wait a bit or opt for a lukewarm shower to help my muscles relax safely. For skincare, when battling chest acne, I’ve found that gentle exfoliation combined with non-comedogenic products works best, especially if you’re sweating a lot during runs. Finally, a light 5-minute makeup routine helps me freshen up before stepping out again, making the transition from workout to daily activities smoother and more confident. Overall, setting a post-run routine that includes stretching, hydration, hair care, skin care, and simple grooming can improve recovery and provide a great mental boost after exercising. I encourage everyone to tune their routines to their unique needs and enjoy the benefits it brings.
