Palia Elderwood - GUIDE + OVERVIEW
🖼️ ARTIFACTS + RELICS
• Artifacts are collectible historical items you find in the Elderwood. They serve mainly to complete the three Artifact Bundles at the Elderwood Central Stables, which reward you with “Elouisa’s Fun Bucks”
• Each artifact you donate gives you 1 ticket (Fun Bucks). Completing full bundles or sets gives bonus tickets. 
• Duplicates can be traded with other players using the Artifact Trading Kiosks/Booths in the Elderwood (Central Stables) to help each other complete bundles.
• Interact with Rummage Piles in the Elderwood (they spawn at varying locations, daily) to get them, trade for them, or open mystery bags.
• Relics are special items that give you buffs within Elderwood (gathering, tracking, etc.). They’re “powered” by your progress in artifacts & the tickets you earn.
Steps to unlock relics:
1. Complete the “Pieces of the Past” quest.
You’ll deliver an initial artifact to Caleri / Elouisa, which opens up the relic / artifact donation mechanics. 
2. Collect artifacts & donate to bundles to earn Elouisa’s Fun Bucks (tickets). Those tickets are the currency to purchase relic schematics and other items in the Artifact Store (in the Central Stables). 
3. Buy relic schematics from Elouisa’s Artifact Store (cost in Fun Bucks). Some (cheaper) ones you can buy directly; others unlock via quest. 
4. Gather materials & craft at the Relic Crafting table (found in the gazebos behind the Central Stables). 
5. Equip the relic, and optionally upgrade it through further tiers to strengthen its buff.
🏹 CREATURES
• Unlocking hunting of “infected” (shade) creatures
as part of the main questline, the “Shot in the Dark” quest lets you unlock the ability to hunt infected versions of certain creatures in the Elderwood by obtaining Elderwood Arrows from Hassian.
• You first supply Hassian with materials (Ancient Wood ×5, Palium Bar ×1, Infected Essence ×10) to craft 20 Elderwood Arrows and get the recipe.
• After that, you can hunt infected versions of creatures (they emit a dark purple aura / drip goop) which drop Infected Essence. 
• Be aware: Normal arrows don’t work on infected creatures. You must use Elderwood Arrows. 
• Many creatures get new behaviors in the Elderwood. For example, some will try to flee, hide, or use environmental effects (like spitting slime).
For instance, Ogopuu can spit slime to slow you, then try to flee or dive into water. 
• Shmole behave like whack-a-mole: if alerted, they dive back into their holes and pop out elsewhere. 
• Drops & rewards: Huntable creatures drop materials (meat, skins, spores, scales, etc.), sometimes plushies, and (when infected) Infected Essence. Some drops are rare (e.g. Ogopuu Scale). 
🌺 FORAGE
• What “foraging” means: In Palia, the Foraging skill lets you harvest gatherable natural resources (“gatherables” like flowers, mushrooms, etc.) and cut down trees for wood. 
• No tool required for gatherables: You don’t need any special tool to pick up ground‐based forage items (flowers, mushrooms, etc.). 
• Trees & axes: To cut down trees (for wood, sapwood, etc.), you must use an axe appropriate to your Foraging level. 
• Persistence / respawn times: After a gatherable is picked, it persists for other players for a short time:
• Common / Uncommon: ~30 seconds
• Rare: ~2 minutes
• Epic: ~5 minutes 
• Elderwood’s new rules (Patch 0.191):
• Some infected forageables (plants, etc.) become harvestable under new mechanics (with relics etc.) without needing consumables. 
• You can shoot down some forage items with arrows (instead of walking and picking) in the Elderwood. 
• Trees in Elderwood yield Ancient Wood (trees with purple leaves / flow influence). You need level 6 Foraging and a Fine Axe (or better) to harvest them.

💜 MINI GAMES — Piksii Blossom Bounce
• A dynamic / timed event / mini-game in Elderwood. 
• Mechanics: It’s an obstacle / platforming + collection event. Players hop around trees, use bouncy mushrooms, jump between floating platforms, climb, glide, and collect floating seeds. 
• Goal: Collect as many seeds as possible during the event window. There are purple seeds (auto-collected on contact) and blue seeds (which spawn with a magical shield that must be broken first). Blue seeds are worth double rewards once their shields are broken. 
• Instance / fairness: The seeds are instanced per player, so you don’t have to worry about other players “stealing” them. 
• When & Where It Occurs:
• Location: In the Deep Woods region of the Elderwood, near two giant trees west of the Deep Woods Stable (map grid F8) 
• Event time / schedule
1. 8:30 PM (game time) — The trees light up with a pale blue aura, and a magical sound plays, signaling that the event will start soon (in ~5 minutes). 
2. 10:00 PM (game time) — The actual event begins: platforms, floating seeds, bouncy mushrooms spawn, etc. 
3. 11:10 PM (game time) — The event ends and all those elements disappear in a visual effect (fireworks, etc.). 
• Rewards & What You Can Earn:
• Elderwood Flower Seeds & Foliage: The seeds you collect during the event give you random rewards including Elderwood foliage / decorative variants such as:
• Elderwood Cosmo
• Elderwood Fern
• Elderwood Lilac
• Ancient Bush
• Giant Mushroom
• Piksiiweed
• Plant Fiber 
• Experience: Participating gives Foraging experience (base 6 EXP) 
• Exclusive / event-only items:
Some decorations or foliage types are exclusive to the event (i.e. you can’t get those from regular foraging). 
• Elderwood Lilac: One particular item, “Elderwood Lilac,” is only obtainable via this event.
