UPDATE
I haven’t been active on her for about two months. This is just an update for myself to kind of process everything and to let anyone wanting to know how things are going. My mom got diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to her brain on July 16th. Three days later she had brain surgery to remove the largest tumor, the recovery was really rough, her speech was messed up as well as her memory and thinking process. The swelling on her brain was severe. We came back home two days after the brain surgery and that absolutely terrified me because now there was no nurses or doctors. Just me. We’ve had non stop appointments since. She had a pet scan which revealed that it started in the lung and spread to the brain, liver, kidney and stomach. The lab came back and said the cancer was small cell lung cancer, we were really hoping for non small cell. She’s had three rounds of chemo which is a three day treatment for six hours. She’s also doing immunotherapy. She started whole brain radiation a week and a half ago and we have been doing that every week day for two and a half weeks. She has one more radiation treatment on Monday then goes straight from radiation to her fourth round of chemo which will be for three days. Then every three weeks. They did say it was stage four and that what we are doing now is trying to prolong her life in hopes they come out with new treatments to help cure her. It’s been extremely rough on her, the fatigue is so bad and she says this nausea isn’t like normal nausea. We are still praying every day all day. I know that god has got us even if it’s not in the way we think. We still have a long way to go but she is fighting so hard and I’m so proud of her.
