EASY & DELICIOUS CHICKEN TERIYAKI BOWL

Chicken Marinade

Dark soya sauce

Sesame oil

Pinch of Chinese 5 spice

White pepper

Paprika

Minced garlic

Chilli sauce

Oyster sauce

Brown sugar

Onion powder Canada

Garlic powder

Rice vinegar

🕰️ Refrigerate over night

When you’re almost ready to cook, take the chicken out of the fridge, and let it rest until it is at room temperature. Pour off the liquid into a separate bowl. Then add about a spoon of dark soya sauce, and add about 2 spoons of corn starch.

CARROTS

1 spoon Dark soya sauce

1 spoon rice vinegar

1 spoon brown sugar

1 chilli crisp

I drizzle this sauce on the carrots and save the rest of the sauce in the fridge for later. You can add as much as you want, adjust the amount you put on to taste. As you can see I only sprinkle a tiny bit. You can also add other seasonings to your liking. Look up ‘carrot salad’ and you’ll find plenty videos online!

Chicken thighs take about 12 minutes to cook on the stove. I cooked mine in avocado oil. I also added them to the air fryer for an additional 6 minutes to crisp up some more.

SAUCE

Add the chicken marinade to the same pot you made the chicken in. Let the sauce cook for atleast 5 minutes on medium high heat. I added honey, more soya sauce, more garlic & salt and pepper until I liked the flavour. I then tossed the chicken thighs after cutting it up into the sauce for a few minutes!

My carrot salad is tossed in a simple dressing of dark soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and chili crisp. This adds a crunchy, tangy contrast to the bowl, which is a nice balance to the rich chicken. Parsley, as seen in my recipe images, makes a great fresh garnish that brightens the dish. If you want to change things up, try serving your chicken teriyaki bowl over steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or even noodles depending on what you prefer. Each base changes the mouthfeel and makes the dish unique. Finally, leftovers are fantastic too—just reheat gently to keep the chicken tender and saucy.
