Starting the Bad Mom’s Club ✨🫶🏼

2025/8/28 Edited to

... Read moreBeing a mom isn't just hard; it often feels like an endless competition where everyone else seems to be winning. I used to fall into the trap of comparing myself to other moms, feeling like I had to achieve some impossible standard of perfection. But honestly, who has time for that? My hot take: mom edition is that the best thing you can do for yourself and your kids is to ditch the pressure and embrace the reality that sometimes, you're just doing your best to survive the day. So, what are the real membership requirements for our unofficial 'Bad Moms Club'? It’s not about being neglectful or not caring; it’s about liberating ourselves from the expectations that drain our joy and energy. Here are a few things that, in my experience, automatically qualify you for our club: 1. You Prioritize Your Sanity (Even If It Means Breaking a 'Rule'): Ever let your toddler have extra screen time so you can just finish that cup of coffee in peace? Or serve cereal for dinner because cooking felt like too much? Been there, done that, and I'm not sorry. Mental health days aren’t just for adults without kids; sometimes, a 'bad mom' move is actually a brilliant self-care strategy. 2. You Say 'No' to Unsolicited Advice: Oh, the endless stream of opinions! From how often your baby should sleep to what your toddler should eat, everyone seems to have an expert take. If you've ever politely (or not-so-politely) brushed off advice that didn't feel right for your family, welcome! You know your child best, and doing what works for you is always the right choice. 3. You Understand That 'Perfect' Is a Myth: Social media is a highlight reel. Behind every perfectly organized pantry or Pinterest-worthy craft, there’s usually a mountain of laundry and a child refusing to wear pants. If you’ve stopped chasing that elusive 'perfect mom' image and started embracing the beautiful, messy reality of your own life, you're in the club. We celebrate progress, not perfection. 4. You Trust Your Gut Over Google (Sometimes): While information is great, there’s a point where endless Googling just fuels anxiety. If you’ve learned to listen to your intuition about your child's needs and trust your own judgment, even when it contradicts the latest parenting trend, you're a seasoned 'bad mom' in my book. Every child is different, and what works for one might not work for another. 5. You're Okay With Not Loving Every. Single. Second.: Motherhood is a rollercoaster of emotions. It's okay to admit that some days are just plain hard, and you might not be loving every tantrum, every sleepless night, or every spilled drink. Acknowledging the tough parts doesn't make you a bad mom; it makes you a real one. We support each other through the good, the bad, and the utterly exhausting. Ultimately, the 'Bad Moms Club' is a safe space where we can be honest about our struggles, celebrate our small victories, and ditch the unnecessary guilt. There are no strict rules, only the understanding that we're all doing our best, and that's more than enough. Let's lift each other up and remember that a happy, authentic mom is far more beneficial to a child than a stressed, 'perfect' one.
