My NCLEX Playlist!

🎵Top Song - For every mountain literally sent me into a tear filled praise otw to my testing center. God is so so good!

🎵Second Song - it’s Donnie…. Need I say more?

🎵Third Song - reminding myself that He has equipped me with all I need to succeed!

🎵Fourth Song - if you haven’t heard this song please listen. It is an anxiety killer! Matthew 6:34!

🎵The rest - all amazing and encouraging songs that put me in a great headspace

All in all my music that morning was centered around not encouraging myself but knowing that no matter the outcome I already have Jesus and that’s more than enough in this world. With that I knew i was prepared for everything I did know on this test and for everything i didn’t He would lead me through.Pearson Vue Test Center

... Read moreHey everyone! Building on my original post about my NCLEX playlist, I wanted to dive a little deeper into why these specific songs and artists made such a profound difference for me on test day. It's more than just background noise – it's about spiritual warfare against anxiety and truly preparing your heart and mind. Let's talk about some of the standouts. Kirk Franklin's "Hello Fear" was absolutely monumental for me. That song isn't just a catchy tune; it's an anthem against the very emotion that threatens to paralyze so many of us before a huge exam like the NCLEX. The lyrics directly confront those anxious thoughts, reminding you that fear has no hold. Listening to it, I felt empowered to face the unknown, knowing that whatever came my way, I had a strength beyond myself. If you’ve ever felt that pit in your stomach thinking about exam results, this song is a powerful reminder to speak life over your situation. Then there’s the incredible Donnie McClurkin. His album, *Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs*, and especially his track "I Call You Faithful (Live)", became a cornerstone of my morning drive. There's something so grounding about declaring God's faithfulness aloud. When you're heading into a high-stakes situation like the NCLEX, doubts can creep in. But remembering that He has always been faithful, and He will continue to be, puts everything into perspective. It helped me shift my focus from what I didn't know to what I did know – that I was not alone. And who could forget Kurt Carr's "For Every Mountain"? This song literally brought me to tears in the car. It’s a powerful declaration that God is bigger than any obstacle, any challenge. The NCLEX felt like a huge mountain, but this song reminded me that with faith, even mountains can be moved. It filled me with a sense of praise and gratitude, even before I stepped into the testing center. Another gem, "Jesus Is Real" by The New Life Community Choir featuring John P. Kee, provided a similar jolt of unwavering assurance. It’s a simple truth, but profoundly impactful when you need that tangible sense of divine presence. Beyond these core tracks, my playlist also featured uplifting artists like Tauren Wells, who brings such a fresh perspective to worship, Fred Hammond with his timeless gospel grooves, the powerful vocals of Evvie McKinney, and the dynamic energy of Deitrick Haddon. Each of these artists contributed to a spiritual atmosphere that was conducive to peace, focus, and a deep sense of being equipped. If you’re preparing for the NCLEX or any other major life challenge, I highly recommend curating your own playlist. Here are a few tips: Personal Connection: Choose songs that genuinely move your spirit and resonate with your faith journey. What speaks to one person might not speak to another. Lyrical Focus: Pay attention to the words. Do they encourage? Do they affirm? Do they remind you of your strength and purpose? Anxiety Killers: Look for songs that genuinely calm your nerves and replace anxiety with peace. Sometimes an instrumental track can also work wonders. Short & Sweet: For the morning of, have a shorter, impactful "power playlist" ready. You don't want to be scrolling through hundreds of songs. Practice Run: Listen to your playlist a few times before the big day to associate it with feelings of calm and confidence. Ultimately, my NCLEX playlist wasn't just about music; it was about cultivating a mindset of faith over fear. It was about reminding myself that while good preparation is essential, true peace comes from trusting in a plan greater than my own. You’ve put in the work; now let your spirit be ministered to. You’ve got this, future nurses! 🩷
