Real Food at Orchard Central pleasantly surprised me with its carefully crafted dishes that cater well to vegetarians without compromising on taste or portion size.
The Baked Stuffed Portobello Mushroom with Cheese stood out as a highlight. Initially, the price seemed a bit high for a side, but the generous portion and rich, juicy mushroom made it feel like a main course. The combination of the earthy mushroom and salty cheese created a dish reminiscent of a healthier vegetarian shepherd’s pie. It’s a great example of how comfort food can be reimagined to fit plant-based diets.
The Genovese Pesto pasta was a pleasant experience too, bursting with the herbal aroma and flavor of basil pesto complemented by olives, potatoes, and zucchini. The strong pesto presence made it feel fresh and vibrant. Although it arrived first and was a bit overshadowed by the other dishes, it still held its own as a well-rounded, tasty plate.
The Broccoli Pizza brought a creative twist by featuring broccoli on a thicker dough base, which reminded me of the inside-out broccoli pizzas I’ve tried elsewhere. I was initially skeptical about the appeal of broccoli on pizza, but here it worked surprisingly well. The cheese added richness, albeit with slight saltiness in some bites, balancing nicely with the texture and taste of the broccoli.
Overall, this meal at Real Food provided a memorable vegetarian dining experience. The dishes showcase thoughtful combinations and quality ingredients that make each dish stand out. For anyone seeking hearty vegetarian options in Orchard Central, this spot is worth a visit. The prices might be on the higher side for some, but the quality and flavor justify it in my opinion.
If you’re exploring vegetarian food spots around the city, consider trying a variety of offerings here to get a good sense of their creative spin on familiar ingredients.
