Birria bombs
Let’s make the easiest birria you will ever make #birria
Hey everyone! If you're like me and love the incredible, rich flavor of birria but don't always have hours to spend in the kitchen, these birria bombs are an absolute game-changer. I seriously can't believe how easy it is to get authentic Mexican birria in minutes using products like EZBOMB birria bombs. It's truly the easiest birria you will ever make, and it delivers on taste every single time. What You'll Need (Beyond the Birria Bomb!) While the birria bomb does most of the heavy lifting, you'll still need a few core ingredients to create your delicious meal. Here's my go-to list: Meat: Around 2-3 pounds of boneless beef chuck roast, beef short ribs, or even a mix. Beef shank can also add incredible richness if you can find it. Cut your meat into 2-3 inch chunks for even cooking. Birria Bomb(s): Typically, one EZBOMB birria bomb is perfect for 2-3 pounds of meat. If you're making a larger batch, adjust accordingly. Water: Enough to just barely cover your meat, usually about 4-6 cups, depending on your pot size and meat quantity. Optional for serving: Fresh white onion (diced), cilantro (chopped), lime wedges, corn tortillas, Oaxaca cheese (for amazing quesabirria!), and perhaps some chili oil if you like a little extra kick. My Super Simple Birria Bomb Instructions This is where the magic happens, and trust me, it couldn't be simpler! Prep Your Meat: I usually cut my chuck roast into easy-to-manage chunks. While you can sear the meat first for an extra layer of flavor, with these birria bombs, it's honestly not strictly necessary! Just toss your meat straight into your Instant Pot, slow cooker, or a large pot on the stovetop. Add the Birria Bomb: Drop in your EZBOMB birria bomb(s) right on top of the meat. It's incredibly satisfying seeing it dissolve into the liquid later. Pour in Water: Add enough water to just barely cover the meat. You want a rich, concentrated broth, so try not to add too much. You can always add a little more later if needed. Cook It Up! Instant Pot (my personal favorite for speed!): Seal the lid and cook on high pressure for 60-75 minutes. After cooking, allow for a natural release for 15 minutes before carefully quick releasing any remaining pressure. The meat will be fall-apart tender. Slow Cooker: Cook on the low setting for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the meat is incredibly tender and easily shreds with a fork. Stovetop: Bring to a simmer in a large pot with a lid. Cook for 3-4 hours, checking the water level occasionally and adding more if necessary, until the meat is fork-tender. Shred and Serve: Once cooked, carefully remove the meat from the pot and shred it using two forks. If you prefer a super smooth consommé, you can strain the broth, but I usually just skim off some of the fat. Now you're ready to serve! My Favorite Ways to Enjoy Birria Quesabirria Tacos: My absolute favorite! Dip corn tortillas in the rich birria fat that rises to the top of the broth, fill them with shredded birria meat and Oaxaca cheese, then griddle until crispy. Serve with a side of the warm consommé for dipping – pure heaven! Birria Ramen: A trendy and delicious twist! Add shredded birria and some consommé to cooked ramen noodles. Top with a soft-boiled egg, fresh green onions, and a drizzle of chili oil for an amazing comfort meal. Birria Quesadillas or Burritos: Simple, satisfying, and always a crowd-pleaser. A Few Extra Tips from My Kitchen Deepen the Flavor: Letting the birria sit overnight in the fridge and reheating it the next day often deepens the flavors even more. It's fantastic for meal prep! Garnish Power: Always have fresh cilantro, diced white onion, and lime wedges on hand for garnishing. These fresh elements cut through the richness and elevate the entire dish. Don't Waste the Fat: That beautiful red fat that rises to the top of the broth? It's liquid gold for dipping your tortillas before griddling. It adds incredible flavor and color to your tacos.
