Wow, getting ready to settle into Istanbul has me absolutely buzzing! After seeing just a glimpse of what this city has to offer through my first explorations and knowing what's shown in pictures, I can already tell it's going to be an unforgettable chapter. From the moment I saw photos, I knew Istanbul was going to be a feast for the eyes. One thing that immediately caught my eye, especially in pictures, is the iconic Galata Tower. It stands so majestically, a true symbol of Istanbul. I can't wait to climb to the top and soak in those panoramic views of the city, imagining all the history it has witnessed. It’s going to be amazing to see the city spread out beneath me, with the Bosphorus winding through it. Then there's the Bosphorus Strait itself – it's absolutely mesmerizing! Seeing boats glide along the water, with grand mosques and city buildings lining the shore, truly paints a picturesque scene. I'm already dreaming of ferry rides, watching the sunset over the water, and just absorbing the dynamic energy this waterway brings to the city. And the illuminated suspension bridge at night? Pure magic! It’s going to be incredible to experience that in person, seeing all the city lights twinkle along the distant shoreline under a dark sky. The architecture here is just stunning. From the majestic domes to the tall minarets, the mosques are breathtaking. I’ve seen glimpses of them in the distance and up close in bustling streets, and each one seems to tell a story. The intricate details and sheer scale are something I'm really looking forward to exploring more deeply, especially those situated by the water, offering such a serene yet grand view. Beyond the grand landmarks, I’m so excited for the everyday street scenes. Imagine narrow, colorful streets, vibrant markets, and the unmistakable sight of red Turkish flags adorning buildings everywhere. It’s these authentic touches that really bring a place to life in photos, and I can’t wait to be immersed in it all. And for those moments of relaxation, the idea of a cozy rooftop terrace overlooking the Bosphorus, maybe with some tea and fruit, sounds absolutely divine. It’s pictured as such a serene escape amidst the city's hustle. I’m already planning my perfect afternoon there! Of course, a new country means new foods! I'm ready to dive into all the local flavors – from street food to traditional dishes. It’s all part of the visual and sensory feast that makes living overseas so special. While my boyfriend is busy on the basketball court (yes, those arenas are huge, just like I've seen in pictures!), I'll be out discovering every nook and cranny of this vibrant city. It's an exciting contrast to our previous life in Riga, and I can already feel the difference in energy. This move to Istanbul is more than just a change of scenery; it's an invitation to explore, learn, and grow.
