hopefully last time i’m in the OR for some time:)

I literally just got out of a cystocopy to remove a stint from my new kidney to my bladder, and also removing my peritoneal dialysis catheter. This was the last (surgical) step needed for me to be physically back to normal and healthy post transplant!

Although i’m definitely still in some pain at the moment, It’s so exciting to look down and not see a tube. To see my abdomen, although cut and stiched and glued, and know it will heal and I will be once again able to do anything.

I feel so lucky and grateful to have found such good doctors, to have such lovely friends, and a supportive family who have all helped me through this wild medical journey the past two or so years. I’m so excited for my future although I’ll need a bit more time to heal. Miracles really do happen if you believe in yourself and that they can! Feel free to ask me any questions at all about my medical issues, my journey with transplant, dialysis, or anything whatsoever. I love to help people learn about the process as it is very long, usually longer than mine was, and i’ll likely be going through it again in the future. If you made it this far thank you for reading and have a lovely day!

... Read moreA kidney transplant is a transformative journey that can lead to gratitude and hope. Many individuals face a long recovery time after surgery. During this period, it's crucial to focus on proper recovery practices, including following medical advice, maintaining a healthy diet, and participating in rehabilitation programs. Pain management is often a significant concern, and discussing techniques with healthcare providers can alleviate discomfort and promote healing. Support from friends and family can also play a pivotal role during this time. The emotional journey is as important as the physical healing, with each step marking a victory. Sharing experiences within communities, such as online forums, can provide valuable insights and encouragement. Educating others about the transplant process helps foster understanding and eliminate stigma. Remember, recovery is a marathon, not a sprint, and every small progress deserves recognition. Celebrate your milestones and keep faith in your healing journey.
