Spotify Audiobooks

I don’t normally listen to audio books I don’t like the voices of the readers. Especially when a female reader is reading the males lines it’s so cringy 😖

But I have Spotify premium which also gives me Hulu and I realized some months ago I also get free audio books. For like popular books to that normally I would have to pay for on like audible or something.

I have been listening to The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose because I wanted to know what the hype was about but didn’t have interest in buying it and actually reading it. I think this is how I will use the feature. Is to listen to books I’m not to sure if I would like and if I do then if it’s a series I’ll buy the next one. Cause personally I prefer to read with a real book. Not even kindle versions either I prefer the real thing. Which I have been using the kindle app for the free books too that are included with my Prime.

So far this book is getting better than it was. It’s a murder mystery and I don’t normally read those but listening to it it’s kinda like a podcast with POVs like who dun it so it’s not bad. Still I wouldn’t not have sat and read this book tho it’s just not something that interests me. But listening it’s like background noise that I can pay attention to while doing other things.

But I also wanted to check this out bc this author wrote home is where the bodies are and I been dying to read that it’s on my TBR shelf. I’m currently physically reading Twisted Love by Ana Huang. It’s sooooo good might be my favorite romance book ngl. Maybe bc I relate so much to the MFC and it’s also based in Maryland/DC which is where I live so it’s just very relatable 🤣. #audiobookreview #audiobookrecommendations #got to listen to audiobooks

... Read moreWhen I first heard about audiobooks, I was a bit skeptical. Like many, I pictured myself struggling to connect with a narrator's voice, especially if it didn't match the characters in my head. I definitely preferred the feel of a physical book in my hands. But then, a few months ago, I realized a cool perk of my Spotify Premium subscription: free audiobooks! It was a total game-changer for me, especially when I started looking for what I'd call 'easy listening' experiences. What exactly makes an audiobook 'easy listening'? For me, it's something I can follow along with without having to dedicate 100% of my attention. It's perfect for when I'm cooking, cleaning, commuting, or even just unwinding before bed. These aren't necessarily lighthearted stories every time, but they have a flow that lets your mind wander a bit without getting completely lost. Think engaging narration, clear storylines, and pacing that doesn't demand constant focus. On Spotify, I've found that many popular books are included, which is fantastic because I can sample titles I'm curious about without committing to a purchase. Speaking of, I dove into 'The Perfect Marriage' by Jeneva Rose, a TOP 100 BESTSELLER. I saw its cover, with those striking wedding rings and red splatters, and the tagline 'HIS MISTRESS IS DEAD. HIS WIFE IS HIS ONLY HOPE.' and thought it might be quite intense. While it's a murder mystery and not typically what I'd consider a 'fluffy' read, the podcast-like nature of listening to it, especially with different POVs in chapters like 'Chapter 27: Sarah Morgan,' has made it surprisingly easy to consume in the background. I'm currently 45% complete and have about 4hr 53min left, and it's been perfect for those times I'm doing chores but still want to be entertained. It proves that even thrillers can be 'easy listening' if they capture your attention in the right way, allowing you to multitask. To find more 'easy listening' audiobooks on Spotify, I usually browse specific categories. Look for genres like cozy mysteries, light romance, memoirs, or even some self-help books that are more conversational. Pay attention to reviews that mention the narrator's performance – a good narrator can make all the difference in turning a good story into an easy listening experience. Sometimes, filtering by popularity or looking at curated playlists within Spotify can also unearth some real gems. It’s all about finding what resonates with you and fits into your daily rhythm. My advice? Don't be afraid to experiment! If you have Spotify Premium, you've already got access to a vast library. You might just discover, like I did, that audiobooks are the perfect companion for your busy life, offering an 'easy listening' escape whenever you need it. It’s a great way to catch up on popular titles or explore new authors without the commitment of sitting down to read.
