How Much I Spent On Rent Living in NY in 2025💸🗽

Living in NY is EXPENSIVE, specially if you are someone who lives by themselves (worth it).

I prepared myself mentally to spend money on rent, specially because I moved to a “luxury building”, which includes good amenities + utilities need to be paid separately (not to mention trash and other fees 😭).

Honestly though, I love my studio apartment because this is what gave me my independence and my own space. I learned my own style, aesthetic and created so many memories here.

So that’s how much I spent in NY this whole year🩷

... Read moreLiving alone in New York City is a unique experience that comes with a hefty price tag, but it also offers unmatched independence and lifestyle opportunities. As shared, the total annual cost for rent, amenities such as gym and pool access, utilities including water, gas, and electric, plus internet services amounted to $23,280 in 2025. This breaks down to roughly $1,790 per month, excluding other fees such as trash collection. It's important to understand that luxury buildings in NYC often charge separately for utilities and amenities, which adds to the overall monthly cost. Rent prices vary depending on location, building age, and features, but opting for luxury accommodations means paying a premium not just for your apartment, but also for lifestyle conveniences. Managing this budget requires mental preparation and financial discipline. However, for many, the independence gained from having a personal studio space in a bustling city justifies the expense. Creating a personal style and home aesthetic can make the living experience feel truly special. To make NYC living more affordable, consider exploring rent-stabilized apartments, sharing spaces with roommates, or choosing neighborhoods slightly outside Manhattan. Additionally, paying attention to utility consumption and selecting bundled internet plans can help save money. Ultimately, while NYC rent costs are high and can feel overwhelming, the lifestyle, opportunities, and memories formed often outweigh the financial burden. This insight into the yearly rent costs and amenities sheds light on what solo living in a luxury NYC studio entails and helps set realistic expectations for prospective residents.

That is NOT bad for a studio apartment in NY. For those that didn’t read the whole thing she paid $21,480 a year which is about $1940 a month and is a luxurious apartment
