Unpopular things I do that get the boomers Boomin
I parent differently, and I’m okay with that. Here are a few things I do that tend to ruffle some feathers:
✨ My son doesn’t have to hug or say hi. No means no. His body, his choice—always. I want him to know from an early age that he never has to sacrifice his comfort to please others.
✨ We use the correct terminology. It’s penis and vagina, not cute little nicknames. Teaching him the right words now means he’ll have a better understanding of his body, boundaries, and safety in the future.
✨ He is fully allowed to “talk back” (respectfully). I want my child to have a voice. He’s allowed to question things, express his feelings, and disagree—because kids deserve to be heard just as much as adults do.
✨ Shower every night. No exceptions. Clean body, clean sheets, fresh start for the next day. It’s a non-negotiable in our home.
✨ Sleepovers. If I choose not to allow my son to sleep at other people’s houses, I won’t be hosting sleepovers at mine. I find it strange to deny him that experience elsewhere while expecting other parents to be comfortable with it at my house. Fair is fair.
✨ He’s allowed to cuss. Words are words. As long as he’s not using them to be harmful or disrespectful, I don’t see the big deal. Plus, we all know the power of a well-placed “damn.”
