For my 23rd birthday my God sisters and I went to dinner at Omakaseed Vegan located in the Sanctuary Hotel New York!
Omakase is a chef’s choice, Japanese dining experience. At Omakaseed, there are two menu options:
🌛Rooted Omakase — 11 courses, $70 per person
🌜Flourish Omakase — 15 courses, $100 per person
Highlights:
👨🏽🍳 The service was amazing! Our Chef explained each dish, was a great vibe, gave me free sake for my birthday, and put a birthday candle on my last course to sing happy birthday!
🍉 My favorite dishes featured watermelon and when I saw I was shocked— I was shocked that it was so good. The first course was very refreshing and something I’d never tasted before. While the entire menu was vegan, they could’ve fooled me because some def had natural seafood flavors!
🏯 My God sisters and I frequent fine dining establishments around NYC and I have never been to a space more intimate. I believe it is because of the nature of omakase where chefs prepare and explain each course as you dine!
... Read moreDining at Omakaseed Vegan in New York City offers a truly exceptional omakase experience that elevates vegan cuisine to an art form. Having tried both the Rooted (11 courses) and Flourish (15 courses) omakase menus, I can share that this chef’s choice format creates an intimate and interactive dining journey unlike any other.
What stood out was how the chefs incorporate creative ingredients like watermelon in ways that surprised and delighted my palate—it was refreshing and beautifully executed, proving that vegan dishes can be just as complex and flavorful as traditional seafood omakase. The natural seafood-like flavors come from clever use of plant-based ingredients to mimic umami depth, enhancing the overall sensory experience.
The personal touch from the chef, who not only explained each course but went above and beyond by offering a free sake and celebrating my birthday with a candle, added warmth and made the evening truly memorable. Service rated 100/10 for attentiveness and atmosphere, creating a vibe that felt intimate and special. Although the location can be tricky to find within a building housing multiple restaurants, the privacy it offers makes you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden gem.
If you’re a vegan food lover or someone curious about plant-based fine dining, Omakaseed provides an ideal setting for special occasions or a unique night out in NYC. The progression from light, refreshing starters to complex, savory courses shows how vegan omakase can deliver variety and satisfaction over many courses. My only critique would be a couple dishes towards the end that didn’t fully resonate with my taste, but that’s a minor note in an otherwise exceptional dining experience.
In summary, Omakaseed Vegan’s Flourish Omakase menu masterfully blends innovation, service, and ambiance. It’s a perfect choice for anyone wanting to explore vegan cuisine in a fine dining, chef-driven setting that feels personal and celebratory.
