I have been on my Mounjaro journey since August 1st when I was officially diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I want to share more about my journey on here. These are my staple items to help me stay hydrated and get my protein in!

When I first began my Mounjaro journey on August 1st for Type 2 Diabetes, I quickly realized it's not just about the medication; it's about building a supportive lifestyle around it. Beyond my trusty light blue tumbler for constant hydration and those delicious chocolate mint protein shakes or strawberry flavored protein bars that keep me fueled, there are other items that have become absolute game-changers for me. First, let's talk more about hydration and electrolytes. Staying hydrated is non-negotiable, and my light blue tumbler is always by my side. But sometimes, water alone isn't enough, especially with the potential side effects like fatigue or headaches. I've found that adding electrolyte packets to my water a few times a week really helps ward off those initial feelings of sluggishness. It’s like a secret weapon for feeling energetic and keeping those pesky side effects at bay, making a huge difference in my overall well-being. Next up, protein power-ups. Getting enough protein has been absolutely key for managing hunger and preserving muscle mass. While those convenient chocolate mint protein shakes and strawberry flavored protein bars are fantastic for on-the-go or quick snacks, I also make sure to stock up on other lean protein sources like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and chicken. Meal prepping protein-rich snacks, such as hard-boiled eggs or pre-cooked chicken bites, saves me so much time during busy weeks and ensures I always have a healthy, satiating option readily available. Let's be honest, digestive changes can be a big part of the GLP-1 experience. To keep things moving smoothly and comfortably, I’ve incorporated a daily fiber supplement. It’s a gentle way to support gut health and prevent discomfort. And for those occasional moments of nausea, ginger chews or even a simple anti-nausea wristband have been surprisingly effective for me. It’s all about being prepared and having a little toolkit for comfort so these minor issues don't derail my progress. Beyond what I put into my body, tracking and monitoring have been incredibly helpful. Keeping track of my food intake, water consumption, and even my symptoms or blood sugar readings has given me so much insight. There are many free apps out there that make this easy, or even a simple notebook can work wonders. It helps me understand how different foods affect me and allows me to see my progress over time, which is super motivating when the scale isn't moving as fast as I'd like. Finally, a 'starter kit' isn't complete without mental preparation and a support system. This journey has its ups and downs, and having friends, family, or an online community to share experiences and tips with makes a huge difference. Remembering my 'why' – managing my Type 2 Diabetes and improving my overall health – keeps me focused on my goals even on challenging days.
