Homemade Italian Beef (Full Recipe Below)

Servings: 5-6

Ingredients:

- 3 lb beef chuck roast (or rump roast)

- 1 tbsp olive oil (for searing)

- Salt and pepper (for searing)

- 2.5 cups low-sodium beef broth

- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning

- 1 tsp garlic powder

- 1 tsp onion powder

- ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

- 1 packet Italian dressing mix (optional, like Good Seasons)

- 8-10 pepperoncini peppers, sliced

- 2 tbsp pepperoncini juice

- 1 medium onion, diced

Detailed Steps:

1. Prep and Sear the Roast: Pat roast dry and season with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in

the Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear roast for 3-4 minutes per side until browned.

2. Add Braising Liquid: With the roast in the pot, add beef broth, Italian seasoning, garlic powder,

onion powder, red pepper flakes, Italian dressing mix, pepperoncini, juice, and diced onion.

3. Slow Cook in Oven: Preheat oven to 275°F. Cover and cook for 4.5 to 5 hours, undisturbed.

4. Shred and Simmer: At 4.5 hours, check roast. If fork-tender, shred it and return to pot. Simmer

uncovered 15-20 minutes to absorb juices.

Additional tips/notes:

Serve on toasted hoagie rolls or French bread.

Top with provolone or mozzarella and broil 2-3 minutes for a melty finish.
