Melbourne 3D2N Itinerary Guide THINGS TO DO ✨

If you’ve been to Melbourne a couple of times and are looking for newer things to do, here is a list of unconventional places that might interest you ✨💫

1. 📍 Fitzroy street - ART

- a short 20mins tram ride away from Melb CBD, make sure to make a visit during the weekend as the large art markets will be open with beautiful trinkets, artists stalls set up

2. 📍 St. Vincent Cathedral

- stumbled upon this while on the tram towards Fitzroy.

- the views were stunning and you would absolutely not regret walking towards the garden to take a look. The backdrop of the cathedral is beautiful.

3. 📍 Grampian National Park (Day Hike) - 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!!

- this is my top recommend. Booked on Klook and what an amazing experience!

- it is easy and not arduous even for beginner hikers. A good way to enjoy some local views if you love nature

3. 📍 St. Kilda Beach (FREE)

- To catch Sunsets and penguins. Take a seat by the beach sipping a beer and chips to soak up the sunset atmosphere

-You could even book a free penguin watching tour with 2 slots everyday!

4. 📍 Old Treasury museum (FREE)

- did you know that Melbourne used to be a land of gold?

- step into the treasury museum for a free exhibition of the Melbourne past and its transition to a vibrant city of music and culture today.

5. 📍 Royal Arcade (FREE)

- similar but smaller to the QVB at Sydney. But make a stop here if you need to get souvenirs or are a choc fanatic with good old local brands of Koko Black and Haighs

6. 📍 Victoria Market (FREE)

- a quick pit stop to visit Monks (hot chocolate), get some local cheese produce, and take a stroll along the bazaar.

... Read moreBeyond the classic Melbourne sights, I found exploring local favorites like Fitzroy Street particularly rewarding. The weekend art markets there are buzzing with artisans selling unique handcrafted items – perfect for finding one-of-a-kind souvenirs. Taking the tram from Melbourne CBD to Fitzroy is convenient and scenic, making it an easy half-day trip. One of my most memorable experiences was the day hike at Grampians National Park. If you love nature but aren't into strenuous hikes, this park strikes the perfect balance with breathtaking views yet accessible trails. Booking through platforms like Klook simplifies logistics, and I appreciated the mix of native flora and fauna seen along the way. St. Vincent Cathedral was an unexpected highlight. Walking around the garden area at sunset offers serene views with the cathedral’s majestic architecture as a backdrop — ideal for photography lovers or those seeking quiet reflection away from the city bustle. St. Kilda Beach offers more than just the usual beach experience. Watching penguins emerge at dusk during a free penguin-watching tour was truly magical, and hanging out with a casual drink while the sun sets creates a laid-back evening perfect for travelers wanting to unwind. History buffs will enjoy the Old Treasury Museum’s free exhibitions showcasing Melbourne’s gold rush days and transformation into a lively cultural hub. It’s a great way to connect with the city’s heritage without spending a dime. For foodies, Victoria Market is a treasure trove. Sampling rich hot chocolates at Monks, tasting local cheeses, and wandering through diverse stalls gives a real taste of Melbourne’s culinary scene. Nearby Royal Arcade, though smaller than Sydney’s QVB, offers delightful spots for chocolate fans with boutique brands like Koko Black and Haigh’s chocolates. Overall, mixing tourism with local culture through these stops gives an enriching Melbourne experience that often gets overlooked by typical visitors. It’s about savoring the city’s art, nature, history, and flavors in a relaxed yet engaging 3-day adventure.

Have a look at my 7D6N Melbourne/ Phillip Island/ Apollo Bay Itinerary! Definitely not enough time and the time spent on the car ride was far too long! If I’m to replan the whole trip, will definitely make the trip longer and the driving to be more spaced out! #melbourne #travelrecommend
