Sometimes when the sun is setting, it feels like there is a stage light casting a strong warm focus over our environment. In this piece the arbutus tree is alight with afternoon sun as it sets in the distance. The background is detailed in cyan blue and soft teal, the tree trunk and rugged limbs gleam in yellow and quinacridone gold.

Went for Petals, Stayed for the Crowds

Visited High Park to catch the cherry blossoms in full bloom, on a weekday, thinking it’d be peaceful. Turns out, all of Toronto had the same idea. What was supposed to be a peaceful 15-minute stroll turned into a full one-hour ‘find a tree without someone posing under it’ adventure. At least
