Miss Charlie, our 7 month old lab/cape shore water

Raising a mixed breed like Miss Charlie, especially one combining a Labrador and a Cape Shore water dog, is an incredibly rewarding experience. These dogs typically inherit the friendly and intelligent traits of Labradors along with the versatility and water-loving nature of the Cape Shore water dog. At 7 months old, Miss Charlie is in the crucial puppy stage, full of energy and curiosity. This means lots of playtime, training sessions, and socializing opportunities to help her develop into a well-mannered adult dog. From my personal experience, focusing on consistency in training has been key. Labs and water dogs both respond well to positive reinforcement, so using treats and praise has helped encourage the behaviors we want. Because this mix is naturally energetic and has a strong instinct for water activities, regular exercise is a must. We enjoy taking Miss Charlie on beach outings and short hikes where she can swim and explore, keeping her mentally and physically stimulated. Socializing her with other dogs and different environments early on has also been beneficial in shaping her confident personality. It’s been amazing to watch her adapt and thrive. For anyone considering a similar mixed breed, I’d recommend preparing for an active lifestyle and lots of love and attention. They truly make wonderful companions that bring endless joy and adventure to daily life.
