Okay, fellow students, let's be real: college finals are no joke! 🤯 I used to rely on endless cups of coffee, but it always led to jitters and a crash. That's when I discovered my ultimate study hack: matcha! Seriously, making matcha has transformed my study for our finals routine. Why matcha, you ask? It's not just a pretty green drink; it's a powerhouse for focus and sustained energy. Matcha contains both caffeine and L-Theanine, an amino acid that promotes a calm alertness without the jitters. This means you get that energy boost without the anxiety, which is perfect for tackling those dense textbooks and complex problems. I've found it helps me concentrate for longer periods, making my study sessions way more productive. So, how do I make matchas with me to study? It's super simple, even if you're on a budget like most college students! You don't need a fancy whisk or bowl to start. Here's my go-to student-friendly matcha latte recipe: Gather your essentials: A good quality culinary-grade matcha powder (it's more affordable than ceremonial for daily use!), hot water (not boiling, around 175°F/80°C), and your favorite milk (oat milk is my favorite for creaminess!). Sift your matcha: This step is key to avoid clumps! Put about 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a mug or small bowl, then sift it through a small strainer. Add a splash of hot water: Pour in about 2-3 ounces of hot water. Whisk it up: If you don't have a bamboo whisk, a small kitchen whisk or even a fork works! Whisk vigorously in a W or M motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and a frothy layer appears on top. No lumps allowed! Warm your milk: Heat about 6-8 ounces of your chosen milk in a microwave or on the stovetop. Combine and enjoy: Pour the frothed matcha into your warm milk.
