Marathon training

Hey guys!! So I’ve never been into running growing up but was always in dance or cheer, keeping a pretty active life style. For the last few years I have been on and off the grid but recently found out only 1% of the population has done a marathon.

Being naturally competitive, I want to be apart of the 1% and have set my mind to running in the LA marathon next year in March.

I have a year to train and went from not even being able to run a mile to running 2 already. I’m posting on here to keep myself accountable and motivated. Fingers crossed I will be able to complete this goal!

What I have noticed so far in my roughy month of training:

- boosted happiness levels

- lowered anxiety and depression

- I look forward to run days

- still get sweaty and out of breath but i enjoy pushing my body physically to the limit sometimes

... Read moreTraining for a marathon is an incredible journey that not only tests your physical capabilities but also offers profound mental benefits. Research indicates that running improves mood, decreases feelings of anxiety and depression, and fosters a sense of achievement. As you embark on your own marathon training, it's essential to approach your goals with the right mindset. When setting a marathon goal, consider the importance of a structured training plan that gradually increases your running distance, while allowing enough time for rest and recovery to prevent injuries. Furthermore, incorporating cross-training activities, such as cycling or swimming, can enhance your endurance and overall fitness while providing a break from running's impact. Nutrition, hydration, and sleep play crucial roles in performance—making sure you're fueling your body with the right foods and staying hydrated will significantly affect your training results. Many runners report that joining a community or finding a training partner can increase motivation and accountability. Sharing your experiences may help others who are also interested in marathon running. Lastly, remember to celebrate your progress along the way, whether that's completing a long run or simply feeling a little stronger on your next attempt. Your journey towards that finish line will be filled with milestones worth acknowledging!

2 tips for marathon training
*Build Endurance Gradually: Increase your long runs by no more than 10% each week to avoid injury and ensure steady progress. *Prioritize Recovery: Take rest days and get enough sleep to allow your body to repair and adapt. Don’t underestimate the power of rest in preventing burnout and injury.

Half Marathon Training Plan
Last week I ran my first half marathon in almost 2 years!! I had taken a break from longer distances and stuck to 5 and 10Ks for a while since that’s what I enjoy most! But training for this half helped me get motivated to do longer runs and actually ignited a new love for longer (for me) runs!
