May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I kicked off this month by participating in @To Write Love on Her Arms virtual 5K.

To Write Love On Her Arms is an organization I have been following since it started in 2006. I have loved watching it grow from a MySpace post, to a non-profit, to a 20 year organization which has impacted the lives of millions of people.

I personally found that joining this virtual event not only motivated me physically but also emotionally, as it felt like being part of something bigger—a movement dedicated to hope and healing. Since its inception in 2006 as a simple story shared on MySpace, To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) has evolved into a vital nonprofit organization impacting millions worldwide. The story behind TWLOHA is deeply inspiring: Jamie Tworkowski met Renee Yohe during her struggles with addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts, and his commitment to sharing her story transformed into a movement offering hope and help. One aspect I appreciate most about TWLOHA is how they tackle mental health stigma head-on. Many people avoid seeking treatment due to shame or access issues, but TWLOHA provides scholarships for therapy, peer support groups, and accessible resources that truly make a difference. Their innovative tools, such as The Hopeful app, offer daily self-care guidance that anyone can use. What stood out to me during my involvement is the organization’s commitment to real stories and authentic connection. Jamie Tworkowski’s quote, “If you feel too much, there’s still a place for you here,” resonated deeply. It reminded me that mental health struggles are common and that asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness but a human necessity. For anyone considering joining or supporting this virtual 5K, know that your participation sends a powerful message of hope. Whether you walk, run, or simply spread the word, you contribute to breaking silence, reducing stigma, and funding life-changing mental health programs. remember a superset is when you do one exercise directly after the other with no rest in between! Do this for 3 rounds, each exercise 12-15 reps and make sure you rest after each round! I love supersets because they fire up your muscles so well AND they save you time! Try it out 😉✨
