... Read moreWhen it comes to random messages from people I don't know, I realized early on that you don't owe anyone a response, especially if the messages feel disrespectful or invasive. One thing I always do is listen to my gut — if someone’s vibe feels off or if they’re being pushy, it’s totally okay to ignore or block them. I also found that setting clear boundaries helps a lot. For example, I might have a pinned comment or status saying this isn’t a dating site, so people know where I stand. It’s amazing how many people respect that once it’s clear. Sometimes, people get upset if you don’t reply immediately or at all. I remind myself that my time and mental energy are valuable. It’s not my responsibility to engage with everyone who messages me. If you’re struggling with the pressure to respond, try this: take a screenshot or save the message, then step back and assess if replying will add positivity or stress to your day. For me, it usually doesn’t, so silence is the best reply. Also, beware of those who record your chats or try to provoke you. If that happens, blocking and reporting is your best defense. Protect your peace online just as you would in real life. Remember, you get to choose who you talk to, and not replying is a valid response. Your inbox shouldn’t dictate your mood or sense of self-worth!

How to respond to ghosting
Here’s something most people don’t realize about ghosting. When a conversation ends without explanation, the brain treats it like an unfinished story. Your mind keeps replaying the date, the jokes, the small moments — not because you’re weak, but because your nervous system is wired to look for

An infographic comparing a 'Reactive MINDSET' (orange brain half) with a 'Responsive MINDSET' (blue brain half). It lists characteristics for each, such as reacting on impulse and blaming others for reactive, versus pausing, communicating with intention, and seeking growth for responsive, illustrating the shift from reaction to response.
Respond, Don’t React 🧠
Growth happens in the space between reaction and response. A reactive mindset acts on impulse — driven by fear, ego, or emotion. A responsive mindset pauses with awareness — choosing intention over instinct. Here’s the shift 👇 ⚡️ Reactivity says: “They made me feel this way.” 🌊 Responsiven

A diagram titled "10 Ways to Help You Respond Rather Than React" illustrates strategies for emotional control. It includes practicing a "six seconds" pause, approaching feelings with curiosity, bringing awareness to the body, naming feelings, practicing self-compassion, pausing and breathing, moving the body, questioning emotions, assuming positive intent, and writing responses.
Respond > React: The Emotional Control Cheat Code
Your power lives in the pause. When you slow down, breathe, and get curious about what you’re feeling, you stop being triggered by life and start leading it. Self-mastery isn’t about suppressing emotions — it’s about understanding them. Practice the pause. Change your outcomes. #EmotionalI
