When I created my own US travel map, highlighting each state I've visited in yellow, I realized how much I've already seen – 11 states, to be exact! That's about 22% of the entire US, which feels like a huge accomplishment, but also leaves so many more adventures to look forward to.
Deciding on my favorite states was tough, but a few truly stood out, earning a special pink heart on my map. Each one offered something unique that made a lasting impression. Take Florida, for example. It’s pure sunshine and good vibes! From the vibrant energy of Miami to the magical theme parks in Orlando and the stunning beaches along the Gulf Coast, there's always something exciting happening. I love the feeling of warm sand between my toes and the endless opportunities for outdoor fun.
Then there's New York, which is just incredible. While New York City steals the show with its iconic landmarks, world-class dining, and non-stop energy, the upstate region offers breathtaking natural beauty, from the Adirondacks to the Finger Lakes. It's an amazing contrast, showing off the state's diverse landscapes and experiences.
Right next door, New Jersey often gets overlooked, but it's such a gem! Being so close to NYC, it offers easy access to the city's attractions while boasting its own beautiful coastline (hello, Jersey Shore!) and charming small towns. I found so much history and diverse culture there, plus some truly delicious food spots. It's got a unique blend of urban convenience and coastal relaxation that I really appreciate.
And finally, Texas—everything truly is bigger there! This state blew me away with its vast landscapes, rich history, and incredibly distinct culture. From the bustling cities like Austin and Houston with their amazing food scenes and live music, to the rugged beauty of Big Bend National Park, Texas offers such a wide range of experiences. The hospitality is unforgettable, and I loved exploring its unique blend of cowboy heritage and modern innovation.
Mapping out your travels, whether on a physical map or digitally, is such a rewarding experience. It’s not just about counting states; it’s about recalling the memories, the flavors, the sights, and the people you encounter. It inspires you to keep moving, keep exploring. If you're planning your own US adventures, consider what kind of experiences you're looking for. Do you love city life, nature, beaches, or history? There's a state for every preference, and discovering your own favorites is half the fun! What states have captured your heart?
