Loving my locs! 🥰 How’d I do?

2024/3/23 Edited to

... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! 👋 So many of you have been asking about my new hairstyle, and I’m so excited to finally share more details about my journey getting my locs cut into a bob! It’s been a transformation, and honestly, the "What I wanted vs. What I did" journey was a real one! For ages, I’ve admired the chic, sophisticated look of a bob, and lately, I've been seeing so many gorgeous locs bob styles popping up. I was specifically inspired by some incredible looks I saw online and knew it was time for a change. My longer locs were beautiful, but I craved something fresh, lighter, and a bit more playful. Deciding to get a bob cut for my locs wasn't a snap decision; I spent weeks looking at inspiration photos, thinking about the ideal length, and whether I wanted a blunt cut or something with more layers to frame my face. The 'wanted' part was easy: a perfectly symmetrical, bouncy locs bob that exuded confidence and style. The 'did' part, well, that's where the real story begins! I actually decided to tackle this myself, which was a huge leap of faith! I spent hours watching tutorials and psyching myself up. Cutting locs isn't like cutting loose hair; it's a commitment! Each loc is a journey, and cutting them felt like a big step. I carefully measured, sectioned, and took my time. The most nerve-wracking part was ensuring both sides were even – nobody wants an asymmetrical bob unless it’s intentional! After the initial cut, I was so relieved and absolutely thrilled with the shape. It instantly felt like a weight had been lifted, both literally and figuratively! My bob locs feel so much lighter and bouncier. I found that styling them is now a breeze. I can quickly jazz them up with some cute clips or just let them hang naturally for an effortless vibe. For maintenance, I've noticed I need to be more mindful of hydrating the ends since they're now more exposed. A light oil or rosewater spray works wonders to keep them looking fresh and moisturized. If you’re thinking about getting your locs cut into a bob, here are a few things I learned: Do your research: Look at tons of inspiration photos. What length do you want? Do you prefer layers? A blunt cut? An A-line bob? Consider your loc size and density: This will impact how your bob lays and its overall fullness. Find a trusted stylist (or be brave with DIY like me!): If you're not doing it yourself, make sure your stylist is experienced with cutting locs. It’s a specialized skill! Embrace the change: It’s a big chop, but it’s so liberating! I'm absolutely loving my new locs bob! It's given me such a boost of confidence and makes me feel so stylish. I truly feel like I nailed the 'wanted vs. did' challenge this time! What do you think? Have you ever considered a bob for your locs? Share your thoughts below! 👇
