Today has been so nonproductive. Sisters, help me feel normal or find me some help😂 #wdnc #perimenopause #menopause #postmenopause
Experiencing nonproductive days when going through perimenopause, menopause, or postmenopause is more common than many realize. From my own journey, these phases bring about a unique set of challenges—physical, emotional, and mental—that can disrupt daily routines and productivity unexpectedly. For example, I remember a day when I planned to be productive: organizing the week, going grocery shopping, and preparing gym clothes. However, the day unfolded quite differently. I found myself in pajamas that didn't match, skipping the usual routines like putting on a bra, and generally feeling out of sync with my own expectations. Simple moments, such as accidentally dropping popcorn and eating it off the floor, made me question if these experiences were part of the norm or something I would outgrow. It's important for women navigating this stage to recognize that "feeling all there" all the time isn't always possible. Memory lapses or scattered moments are real, common components of this life phase. Seeking connection with others—like joining online forums, using hashtags like #wdnc (which stands for "We Do Not Care" as a humorous nod to imperfect days), or #menopause community groups—can provide reassurance and reduce feelings of isolation. Additionally, adopting small self-care strategies can help improve these days over time. For instance, setting realistic goals instead of high expectations, incorporating gentle exercise tailored to energy levels, and practicing mindfulness or journaling to track mood changes and triggers. Though these hormonal transitions can be frustrating and sometimes scary, sharing authentic experiences reassures us we’re not alone. Through support, humor, and self-compassion, navigating nonproductive days becomes more manageable and even empowering.
