... Read moreAs someone who identifies as a nerd, I've found that embracing my passions fully can be incredibly rewarding. Whether it's rewatching Harry Potter movies, analyzing Taylor Swift's lyrics, or debating plot points from The Hunger Games, each fandom offers a unique sense of community and excitement.
One thing I've noticed is that being deeply involved in these fandoms often means knowing a lot of references that might fly over others' heads. For example, when discussing 'I'm dead sirius girl! nerd girl I don't deserve u' or quotes from 'Hamilton: An American Musical,' it creates a language of its own that connects fans in a special way.
Going beyond just watching or listening, I enjoy diving into fan theories, attending virtual or in-person fandom events, and even creating merch or fan art. These activities take the nerd life to another level and make the experiences so much richer.
If anyone feels hesitant about fully engaging in their nerdy interests, I’d say go for it! The joy and friendships that come from thinking deeply about your favorite books, shows, or music are worth it. Plus, it’s a great way to meet others who share your passion and celebrate what makes you uniquely you.
