I remember a time when I would seek approval and try to fit in places where I wasn’t truly valued. It was exhausting and limiting. But when I finally bought my own table—in other words, set my own standards and boundaries—I realized the freedom in making choices about the people and opportunities I allow in my life. Self-love is not about arrogance; it is about understanding your value and expecting respect. It means allowing only those who appreciate and uplift you to be part of your journey. Setting these boundaries can be challenging because it may mean stepping away from familiar relationships or situations where you felt you ‘belonged’ but were not appreciated. What truly helped me was embracing the mindset that I control my narrative. I decide the atmosphere around my 'table'—who I invite in and who I politely distance myself from. This perspective shift has brought me peace, confidence, and personal growth. It encourages you to stop begging for acceptance in places that aren’t meant for you and instead create your own space where you thrive. Practicing self-love daily through affirmations, reflection, and self-care reinforces your worth. Surround yourself with positivity and continuously remind yourself that you deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. Remember, self-love is a journey—not a destination—and choosing who sits at your table is a powerful step toward living your best life.
