As a mom of four with my oldest in college and youngest just 10, I’ve learned there’s no one-size-fits-all to parenting. Each of my kids needs a unique version of me, and keeping up with their individual needs is as rewarding as it is challenging. Sometimes motherhood can be a bit ghetto. Parenting daughters is different from parenting sons, especially when I want to raise my boys to respect and feel safe with women. Society has its own ideas about what a ‘good mom’ should be, but I am trusting in God that he is giving me all the tools I need because I’m giving this thing my best. Watching my daughter in college reminds me how fast time flies. She’s breaking cycles I faced as a teen mom, and that’s a blessing. That was hard in itself raising a child at 18 before even knowing who I was as a person. Motherhood teaches resilience every day! Although I have grown into my role as mom, I still am learning that they all need a different version of me. Managing that is hard. If someone is reading this and feels overwhelmed, you aren’t alone. I have my good days and bad days too. Take a minute to reset and relax. Take it one day at a time.
2025 will make our last year attending a mother and son dance in elementary school. 😢
