Flan 🍮
Quick & easy flan !
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share my absolute favorite, super simple flan recipe that was a massive hit at our recent Christmas Party! If you’ve ever been intimidated by making flan, trust me, this step-by-step guide will change your mind. It’s incredibly quick and easy, perfect for impressing your guests without spending hours in the kitchen. Why Flan is Your Go-To Party Dessert: Flan is elegant, delicious, and can be made entirely ahead of time, which is a lifesaver when you're hosting. Plus, it's generally crowd-pleasing. For our Christmas Party, I wanted something classic but stress-free, and this flan delivered! What You'll Need (Simple Ingredients!): 1 cup granulated sugar (for the caramel) 1/4 cup water (for the caramel) 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pinch of salt A 9-inch round baking dish or 6-8 ramekins A larger roasting pan for the water bath My Easy Step-by-Step Flan Method: Caramel Magic: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water. Cook over medium heat until it turns a rich, golden amber. Immediately pour into your baking dish(es), tilting to coat the bottom. Let it cool and harden. *Safety first: caramel is extremely hot!* Blend the Custard: In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until completely smooth – avoid overmixing to prevent bubbles. Assemble and Bake: Pour the custard over the cooled caramel. Place your flan dish(es) inside a larger roasting pan. Carefully pour hot water into the roasting pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of your flan dish(es) – this is your "bain-marie" or water bath, crucial for even cooking. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes (large dish) or 30-40 minutes (ramekins). It's done when the edges are set, but the center still has a slight jiggle. Cool and Chill: Remove from the water bath and let cool completely at room temperature. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. Chilling is key for perfect setting and flavor. The Grand Reveal: When ready to serve, run a thin knife around the edge. Place a serving plate upside down over the flan dish, then confidently flip them. The flan will slide out, with that gorgeous caramel sauce. Pure heaven! Party Prep Tips for Stress-Free Serving: Make Ahead is Key: This is a fantastic make-ahead dessert. Prepare it a day or two in advance. Individual Servings: Ramekins are brilliant for parties – no slicing needed! Transporting: If taking it to a gathering, ensure it's well-chilled. For a large flan, transport in its baking dish and invert at your destination. Garnish Ideas: Fresh berries, a mint sprig, or cinnamon add a beautiful touch, especially for a festive occasion like a Christmas Party. This quick & easy flan recipe truly makes entertaining a breeze. Give it a try for your next gathering, and you'll see why it's become my secret weapon for delicious, crowd-pleasing desserts!
