CARAMEL

Let boil until it turns to a amber color (DO NOT WALK AWAY) and immediately turn the stove off

While the caramel hardens prepare the custard

Vanilla custard

Step 5: In a blender add the eggs and blend for about 2 minutes (I do this to take the eggy taste away, trust me it helps)

Step 6: add the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla and blend together with the eggs until blended well together.

Step 7: pour mixture in the baking dish with the caramel( you may hear a crackling sound, thats normal)

Step 8: carefully put the pan in a bigger baking dish and add the boiling water carefully with out any getting in the mixture (this is doing a baine marie )

Step 9: cover with foil paper put in the oven for one hour and 15 minutes

Step 9: slide a knife all around the pan and let cool. Once cool refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight

step 10: once your ready to serve get a serving dish big enough to flip the pan over it, place the dish over the baking dish and flip it

ENJOY!

... Read moreVanilla flan, also known as flan de vanilla, is a beloved dessert in many cultures, particularly in Latin America and Spain. Its smooth and creamy texture, combined with the delightful flavor of vanilla, makes it a wonderful choice for any occasion. This delicious dessert is made by creating a caramel layer that coats the bottom of a baking dish, followed by a rich custard mixture made from eggs, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. The flan is cooked using a water bath, or bain marie, which ensures even cooking and a velvety texture. To achieve the perfect flan, it’s crucial to monitor the caramel closely, as it can quickly go from golden to burnt. Once the flan is baked, allowing it to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours (or overnight) enhances the flavors and ensures it sets properly. When ready to serve, flip the flan onto a plate to reveal the glossy caramel topping. For variations, you can add citrus zest or a hint of rum for a unique twist. Vanilla flan pairs wonderfully with whipped cream or fresh fruit, which adds a refreshing contrast to its sweetness. This dessert is not only a feast for the palate but also a visual treat, making it an excellent choice for gatherings and holiday celebrations.
