Our HCM food reco after 3 trips there!!

... Read moreBased on my visits, here are some detailed food experiences to help you plan your own Ho Chi Minh City culinary adventure: Kocha Matcha Spot truly blew my mind with the best matcha I've ever had—surprisingly better than what I tried in Japan! It's a must-visit if you love matcha drinks, offering a unique taste experience along with a cozy atmosphere. Quan Ngon has been a consistent favorite on every trip. Their fried spring rolls are a definite must-try and the overall menu is reliably tasty and authentic. It's a great place for those who want classic Vietnamese flavors in a vibrant setting. For banh mi lovers, Banh Mi Hong Hoa was less crowded and tastier than some of the more famous spots nearby. The freshness of the ingredients and the balance of flavors made it stand out for me. If you want authentic banh xeo, Bep Me In serves the most generous portions I've found. Although I see it as a spot to try once, the quality of the dish is impressive and worth the visit. On the drinks side, don't miss the egg cocoa—a rich and intense treat reminiscent of Hanoi's egg coffee but with a delicious cocoa twist. With many outlets across the city, it's an accessible way to indulge. I also appreciated the welcoming vibe and friendly staff at some lesser-known spots, with a bonus of a cat to keep you company! These places often have unique atmospheres that make your dining experience memorable beyond the food. While some dishes like Banh Canh Cua 87 didn’t quite match my taste due to the meaty flavor, everyone’s preference is different, so it might be a hit for you. I hope these insights encourage you to explore beyond the usual tourist spots and discover your own favorites in Ho Chi Minh City's amazing food scene.
