... Read moreOh my goodness, can you believe how fast they grow? It feels like just yesterday Baby Kayden was born, and now we’re celebrating his incredible 9-month milestone! Instead of a traditional cake smash, I wanted something truly unique and memorable, and that's how we landed on a 'graduation' theme. It was such a blast, and I wanted to share some of my tips for anyone looking to create an adorable and Instagram-worthy baby photoshoot, whether it's for 3 months, 6 months, or even a full year!
First off, why a graduation theme for a baby? Well, every month is a huge step for our little ones, isn't it? From learning to roll to sitting up, they're constantly 'graduating' to new skills. For Kayden's 9-month celebration, we went all out with a classic black and gold graduation decorations theme. Seriously, seeing him in his tiny black graduation gown and cap, complete with an 'EXCELLENT BABY 2025' sash, just melted my heart! We used 'CONGRATS 9 MONTHS GRAD!' banners, balloons, and even a framed photo of him to make the setup feel extra special. Don't be afraid to get creative with your color scheme – maybe pastels for a softer look, or bright primary colors for a playful vibe.
When it comes to DIY graduation decorations, you don't need to spend a fortune. I found that simple black and gold balloons, a DIY banner, and some fun props made a huge difference. You can easily find miniature caps and gowns online, or even make a small tassel for a regular baby outfit. Thinking of a 3rd month photoshoot? You could adapt this idea by calling it a 'Graduation from Newborn Stage'! A small cap on your 3-month-old, surrounded by soft blankets and a tiny scroll, would be incredibly sweet.
Now, for the actual photoshoot itself, patience is key! Babies have their own schedule. I made sure Kayden was well-fed and rested before we started. We had his favorite toys nearby, and plenty of snacks for ourselves! Don't stress if your little one isn't always smiling; some of the most precious photos capture their genuine expressions, even a pout or a cry (as you might see in some of our behind-the-scenes shots!). Trying different outfits, like his cute blue plaid vest and shirt, also adds variety to the album.
Remember those 'EXCELLENT BABY 2025' sashes? They're super easy to make or find, and they really tie the whole theme together. You could personalize them with your baby's name or a special message. Whether you're capturing big smiles or tiny tears, these moments are fleeting. So grab your camera, get creative with your 'graduation decorations', and celebrate every little milestone. Every month is a new accomplishment worth cherishing!
