my experience at a traditional kimono ceremony

My experience at a traditional kimono ceremony in Kyoto.

If you are visiting Kyoto I would definitely recommend this. You get a beautiful glimpse into what a tea ceremony would feel like.

This company has two locations , I highly suggest this location : 220 Itoyacho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan ..the other location felt very over saturated.

💵 Price: Around $50/person

Kyoto

... Read moreKyoto, a city rich in cultural heritage, offers visitors the opportunity to participate in a traditional kimono ceremony. This experience not only allows you to don a beautiful kimono, but also immerses you in the historical procedures of a Japanese tea ceremony. Once you arrive at the ceremony, you'll be greeted with a selection of exquisite kimono patterns to choose from, along with the corresponding obijime and obi, which add elegance to your attire. The friendly staff will style your hair with traditional flowers, complementing your look. The setting of the ceremony is equally remarkable, held in an ancient tea house adorned with tatami flooring, creating an ambiance that transports you back in time. The knowledgeable instructor guides you through the history and significance of the tea ceremony, teaching you the essential manners and proper procedures. As you participate, you'll enjoy a delicious mochi snack alongside your tea. The learning continues with hands-on preparation of matcha, where you'll discover the secret technique behind crafting the perfect brew. Notably, rather than stirring in circles, the ideal method is a back-and-forth motion with your whisk to enhance flavor. Post-ceremony, capture magical moments in a beautiful Japanese garden, equipped with traditional footwear and umbrellas. This unforgettable experience not only provides a glimpse into the rich traditions of Japanese tea culture but also leaves you with cherished memories of Kyoto.
