101 ways to use herbs: Cooking! 🌿

Cooking is one of the easiest ways to add more herbs and sprouts to your day. 🌿

I love adding parsley, broccoli sprouts, and alfalfa to our family meals for an extra boost of nutrients, and the best part? I can’t taste them when they’re mixed into soups, pasta, rice, sauces, or other cooked dishes.

Small changes. More plants. More nourishment!

... Read moreCooking with herbs is a fantastic way to quietly upgrade your family's meals with valuable nutrients without altering taste or texture significantly. I personally have found that adding herbs such as nettle, alfalfa, broccoli sprouts, and parsley not only enhances the flavor but more importantly supports overall wellness. For example, nettle is a powerhouse herb loaded with minerals like iron, calcium, and magnesium, which are essential for energy and bone health. It also has a role in alleviating seasonal allergies, making it a perfect ingredient for those sensitive to environmental triggers. Alfalfa is another favorite of mine due to its rich vitamin content—including vitamins A, C, and K—which helps boost the immune system and improve digestion. I tend to sprinkle fresh alfalfa on top of cooked meals or blend it in sauces to maintain its health benefits. Broccoli sprouts are especially potent because of their high sulforaphane levels—a compound known to support liver detoxification and protect cells from oxidative stress. Using broccoli sprouts fresh or dried allows me to add this protective nutrient in versatile ways, from soups to stir-fries. Parsley, a classic herb, goes well with almost everything and provides a strong dose of antioxidants and vitamins that promote kidney health and urinary tract function. It’s very easy to add parsley right before serving cooked dishes for an extra fresh touch. In my experience, the key to successfully using herbs in daily cooking without overwhelming other flavors is to add them in moderate amounts and blend with a variety of dishes from pastas and rice to soups and sauces. This habit has enabled me to give my family a nutritional edge with minimal effort, especially beneficial when cooking for toddlers who may be picky eaters. Ultimately, it’s about small, consistent changes—adding herbs and sprouts regularly—which compound to significant health benefits over time. This natural and holistic approach to cooking creates a foundation for sustained family wellness by integrating nutrient-dense plants seamlessly into everyday meals.
