From Canvas to Counseling: A Journey of Becoming
If you told me years ago that the same hands that created art to survive would one day be trained to help others heal—I might’ve laughed at the thought. Never did I think that I would be capable of helping others through their own hurt.
But here I am. A professional artist, a graduate student, in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master Program, and a future trauma therapist. My passion for mental wellness isn’t just professional—it’s personal. I know what it’s like to carry invisible weight, to make something beautiful out of brokenness, and to turn survival into purpose.
Every paper I write, every class I attend, every client I hope to one day support—it’s all part of something bigger.
✨ A gentle reminder to anyone pivoting careers, rebuilding their identity, or still finding their path: You are allowed to evolve. You don’t have to have it all figured out to be impactful. Growth is often messy—and still sacred.
Ironically as a kid, this was my favorite scripture. I wanted to help but didn’t know to what extent God had planned. Every avenue I tried that didn’t fit what his plans were failed but once I found his plans, everything fell into place.
