Struggling with your spending?

I've found that implementing small, realistic changes can make a significant difference in how I manage money daily. One of the first steps I took was deleting most shopping apps from my phone which helped reduce temptation drastically. Seeing a constant reminder of sales or new products can easily lead to unplanned purchases, so removing these distractions was liberating. Additionally, I removed my cards from Apple Pay, which added a necessary friction point when I wanted to buy something. That extra step creates a moment of pause, allowing me to reconsider whether the purchase is necessary. I also started making a "want list" instead of buying on impulse. I write down the items I feel like buying and revisit the list in a week. Often, I find that my desire fades or I realize I don’t truly need the item. Another rewarding strategy is linking purchases to goals—turning "wants" into rewards for completing hard tasks. This not only motivates me to achieve goals but also adds more meaning to what I spend money on. To build awareness, I tracked all my spending for one week without pressure or guilt, which helped me understand my spending patterns better and identify areas where I could cut back. These habits feel manageable and have truly helped me control my spending without feeling deprived. By focusing on awareness and mindful purchasing, anyone can improve their financial health with practical steps suited for their lifestyle.
