Nov. of 2024 I made the decision to get on Semaglutide and got off in May of 2025. Here are my thoughts…
Pros: I lost almost 44 pounds, I feel more confident now in my skin, I lost a whole shirt size I went from a 2X to an XL, I found budget friendly places to get the shots.
Cons: A lot of nausea everytime I upped my dosage, it made my kidney and liver levels skyrocket which resulted in Gallblader removal and Liver biopsy, shots hurt!
All over: I do not regret my time in Semaglutide, I am a lot lighter and more confident now than I was before I got on it. I urge everyone on it to watch their blood work and if something feels off go get checked out. I never got my blood work done in 8 months then when I did my kidney and liver levels were dangerously high. Turns out Semaglutide caused gallbladder stones (yes this is a side effect) which resulted in emergency surgery. If you are on it be cautious and listen to your body! It was a blessing and a curse for me. #semaglutide#health#weightlossandfatloss

... Read moreHey everyone! I've seen a lot of questions pop up about Semaglutide, especially queries like 'why is my semaglutide pink?' or 'my semaglutide is pink.' It’s a really important question, and something I wanted to touch on because when you're on a medication like this, knowing what's normal and what's not is absolutely crucial for your safety and peace of mind.
From my experience and what I've learned, Semaglutide, whether it's Ozempic, Wegovy, or compounded versions, is typically a clear, colorless solution. It should look just like water in the syringe or pen. So, if you're noticing a distinct pink hue, it's definitely a red flag that needs your attention.
There could be a few reasons why your Semaglutide might appear pink, and none of them should be ignored. Firstly, and most concerningly, a change in color could indicate contamination. This might be bacterial growth or other impurities that have gotten into the solution, especially if it hasn't been stored correctly or if the vial has been compromised. Administering contaminated medication can lead to serious infections or adverse reactions, which is precisely what we want to avoid.
Another possibility, particularly if you're getting your Semaglutide from a compounding pharmacy, is an issue with the compounding process itself. Compounded medications are custom-made, and sometimes errors in formulation or the addition of certain ingredients could unintentionally alter the color. While some compounding pharmacies might add a slight tint for identification purposes, a vibrant pink is usually not typical without explicit communication from your provider. Always double-check with your pharmacy if you have any doubts about the appearance of your compounded medication.
It's also worth considering the container or syringe itself. Sometimes, the material of the syringe plunger or the vial stopper can leach a color, or even the lighting in your environment could cast a misleading tint. However, it's always safer to assume the medication itself is discolored rather than relying on external factors.
My own journey, which I've shared, highlights how vital it is to be vigilant about everything related to your treatment. I mentioned in my review how crucial it was to watch my blood work, and I can't stress enough how important it is to also watch the medication itself. Any deviation from its normal appearance, including a pink color, should prompt an immediate call to your doctor or pharmacist. Don't take a chance. They are the best resources to determine if your medication is safe to use. You wouldn't want to risk your health by using something that isn't right, especially after all the effort you're putting into your wellness journey.
Remember, medications should always be stored according to their instructions, usually refrigerated and protected from light. Proper handling and visual inspection before each dose are simple but effective steps to ensure your safety. My experience taught me that being proactive and listening to your body, and in this case, even listening to what your medication is telling you visually, is paramount. If you see pink, pause, and get professional advice before proceeding!
