Skincare that can break you out!

2/5 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my own experience, I’ve found that even popular skincare brands can sometimes cause unexpected breakouts, especially if the formulas contain strong acids or heavy moisturizers. For example, products like The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, while great for acne-prone skin, can over-exfoliate if not used carefully, leading to irritation and breakouts rather than clearer skin. I once struggled with cystic acne that wouldn’t clear despite diligent skincare, and it turned out that a cream-to-milk cleanser I was using was the culprit. Switching to a gentler, fragrance-free cleanser made a significant difference. It’s important to patch test new products and introduce them slowly to observe any adverse reactions. Ingredients such as AHAs and salicylic acid are beneficial in moderation, but overuse or using them in combination with other strong actives can disrupt your skin’s natural barrier. This disruption can result in redness, dryness, and breakouts. Always follow product instructions and consider consulting a dermatologist if breakouts persist after changing your routine. Finally, embracing vulnerability means acknowledging that what works well for others may not work for you, and that's perfectly okay. Your skin is unique, and sometimes the best skincare comes from understanding your own skin’s needs through trial and error. Avoid chasing every trend and instead focus on a consistent, gentle routine tailored specifically for your skin type.
