how i’m advancing my acting career in 2025

This year was a calmer year for my acting n modeling career as uni was kicking my ass and I needed to take breaks for my mental health, BUT… these are what I did do in 2024!!

- Twenty One Pilot’s ‘Overcompensate’ music video

- Experience Columbus holiday commercial + photos

How am I advancing and getting more jobs next year?

- Looking at Casting Calls everyday! I started looking everyday this December and will continue into the new year, on more hectic days or weeks, I’ll stick to three or two times a week. My personal favorite site is Allcasting, it is paid monthly, but worth it. I found both of my 2024 gigs on it and they receive Casting Calls from companies like Disney and RareBeauty.

- Building a better portfolio of photos! I haven’t had professional headshots or full body photos since I was 19 (I’m 21 now). You can get discounted or free photos taken of you professionally at your university or college, as well as building a mini studio or set in your apartment or home and using a tripod and a timer. The latter is completely acceptable when you’re starting out, but you have to look into posing and timers on your camera as you won’t have a photographer to guide you.

- Moving! Completely unnecessary when just starting out, but I’ve been acting and building my portfolio since I was a kid, and am transferring out of Ohio State and there are specific locations in the US and Canada that are hotspots for jobs in this business (ie : New York City, L.A., Houston, Atlanta, Toronto, and Ontario). I’m personally leaning towards Ontario and NYC for the next year as NYU has great art and law programs for my transferring and Masters, as well as Ontario has a lovely arts school.

- Making connections! Develop has a great free community to meet professionals in the business and other actors/ models. I have contacts from my Twenty One Pilots shoot that I should’ve been taking advantage of, but didn’t. That’s gonna change in 2025!

Hope this helped to those starting out and ask me any questions you have! #letschat #lemon8challenge #acting #modeling #careeradvice

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my personal journey to advance my acting career in 2025, I wanted to dive deeper into how modern tools can really give us an edge, especially something as game-changing as ChatGPT. When I shared what I accomplished this year and my plans for next, I realized a huge part of 'optimizing your career' today isn't just about the traditional hustle – it's also about leveraging technology smart. So, how can we as actors truly use ChatGPT to optimize our career path? It’s not about replacing our creativity, but enhancing it! First off, let's talk about Brainstorming and Character Development. Ever get stuck trying to understand a complex character or a tricky scene? I’ve found ChatGPT incredibly helpful for digging into backstories, motivations, and even generating different interpretations of a monologue or scene. You can feed it details about your character and ask it questions like, "What are five possible hidden fears for a character who acts overly confident?" or "How would this character react to unexpected good news given their cynical nature?" It’s like having a virtual scene partner or a dramaturg available 24/7, offering fresh perspectives you might not have considered. This really helps me prepare for auditions and deepen my understanding of roles, which is key for advancing my acting career in 2025. Next, Marketing and Personal Branding are crucial. As actors, we're our own businesses. ChatGPT can be a lifesaver for crafting compelling written materials. Think about writing a captivating bio for your website or casting profiles – it can help you articulate your unique selling points. Or, when you need to write engaging social media posts to keep your audience updated, it can generate ideas and polished drafts. I’ve even used it to help me draft tailored cover letters for specific casting calls, highlighting my relevant experience and showing casting directors why I’m a perfect fit. It’s all about presenting yourself professionally and memorably. Then there’s Audition Preparation. Beyond character analysis, ChatGPT can assist with line memorization techniques or even generate alternative ways to deliver certain lines to explore different nuances. While it can't listen to your performance in real-time, it can provide textual feedback on script breakdowns or help you understand the emotional arc of a scene better. You could ask it to generate specific questions a director might ask in an audition, helping you anticipate and prepare thoughtful answers. Finally, for Networking and Career Strategy, ChatGPT can be an invaluable assistant. Networking is something I'm focusing on more in 2025. Imagine needing to send a professional, personalized email to a casting director you met at an event, or drafting follow-up messages after an audition. ChatGPT can help you compose these communications, ensuring they are clear, concise, and professional. It can also help you research agents, managers, or production companies, giving you insights into their past projects and helping you tailor your outreach. It’s like having a personal assistant to streamline the administrative side of your career, freeing you up to focus on the creative work. This digital assistant truly helps in optimizing your career by making these tasks less daunting and more efficient. Using AI isn't about replacing the human element; it's about smart augmentation. It enables us to be more efficient, more prepared, and ultimately, more competitive in this dynamic industry. It's definitely a tool I'm integrating into my strategy for how I'm advancing my acting career in 2025!
