For example, I often take a room or a specific spot at a time and ask myself: Does this item serve a purpose or bring joy? If not, it’s time to donate, resell, or recycle. This process not only tidies my environment but also reduces the 'mental noise' that contributes to decision fatigue. A clearer space leads to clearer thinking and less stress. I noticed that even spending a short time on decluttering sets a positive tone for the day, making routine decisions easier and less draining. Additionally, winter can be an ideal time for this practice since the slower pace encourages reflection and renewal indoors. In combination with other stress management strategies, such as mindfulness or scheduled breaks, decluttering amplifies mental clarity and focus. If you’re feeling daily brain fog or overwhelmed by choices, try integrating regular decluttering sessions into your routine. It’s a simple, practical step toward owning your mental space and reducing burnout in the long run.
