This Routine Survived Real Life During A Messy Week

The real-life version starts with me as a nursing student after lab practice, my skin made my cute outfit feel less cute, plus the fact that I almost brushed it off as another bad-skin night. Let the routine be small enough that you do not have to fight it. ✨

The routine felt better once I stopped trying to make it worthy of a photo.

My sweatshirt sleeve covered half my hand because I was cold and tired. I keep Vermisse Essential Oil from Amazon in the same place I keep my hair tie, which says a lot about how often I actually use it. 🫶

... Read moreMaintaining a skincare routine during hectic and tiring weeks can feel overwhelming, especially when your skin isn’t cooperating. I’ve personally learned the value of simplifying my self-care regimen to adapt to real-life stressors and exhaustion. Instead of trying to execute a perfect routine worthy for photos, focusing on minimal steps has helped me stay consistent and kind to my skin. One key tip I’ve found helpful is to embrace no-makeup days fully. These moments allow your skin to breathe and give you the freedom to prioritize comfort over appearance. I noticed that on days when I felt most tired, I needed quick, no-thought self-care — something that didn’t require much time or energy but still nurtured my skin. Essential oils, like the Vermisse Essential Oil I keep near my hair tie, have become my go-to last step. It’s a small act but feels like a final touch of self-kindness before bed, especially when a full routine feels too much. This approach aligns with the idea that less is more — a basic routine doesn’t have to fight you to happen, it should be an easy, comforting habit. Wearing cozy clothes, like an oversized sweatshirt that covers tired hands, adds to the sense of self-comfort that’s just as important as the skincare itself. When your skin or mood feels off, pairing gentle care with physical warmth can create a sense of calm. If you ever face bad skin or rough days, try cutting your routine down to only the essentials. The goal is to feel cared for without pressure, allowing your routine to support your well-being quietly in the background of a busy life. These unpolished moments — no makeup, no performance — can be your most authentic and healing ones.
