🇨🇦 A Canadian’s guide to @Universal Orlando Resort 🎢🌎
Here are a few things I wish I knew before going 👇🏼
✈️ We flew @Air Canada from Toronto and had a super easy experience.
🏨 We stayed @Best Western® Hotels & Resorts near Universal, which included complimentary breakfast! An easy way to save a little money before heading into the parks!
🚌 Our hotel offered a complimentary shuttle, BUT there was only one scheduled pick-up/drop-off time. If you miss it, there isn’t another one later. We missed ours both days 😂 but thankfully, it was only about a 25-minute walk between our hotel and Universal.
🎟️ We purchased a 2-Day Multi-Park ticket. We spent one day between Universal Studios Florida + Islands of Adventure, and our second day was dedicated to Epic Universe, Universal’s newest theme park. We were able to do Universal Studios + Islands of Adventure in ONE day, so it’s definitely possible if you plan accordingly!
🌧️ Rainy day tip: If rain is in the forecast, I’d personally start at Islands of Adventure and move over to Universal Studios later since there are more indoor attractions there. Florida weather can change FAST, so be prepared!
💧 Bring a reusable water bottle! There are FREE water refill stations throughout the parks with ice-cold water. This saved us from constantly buying drinks and was so needed in the Florida heat.
🎒 PACK LIGHT. Some rides require you to put your belongings into a locker before riding. The standard lockers we used were free, but they’re pretty small! My backpack fit, but I wouldn’t recommend bringing anything much larger or overpacking it.
🎢 Our TOP 3 rides:
⭐️ VelociCoaster
⭐️ Revenge of the Mummy
⭐️ The Incredible Hulk Coaster
💾 SAVE this for your Universal Orlando trip & send it to someone you’d go with!
And if you’re planning a trip from Canada and have ANY questions about flights, where we stayed, tickets, the parks, rides, what we spent, what I’d do differently, etc., leave them in the comments! I’m happy to answer anything I can based on our experience!

Visiting Universal Orlando Resort as a Canadian traveler comes with its unique set of considerations that helped me have an enjoyable experience. One useful tip I learned is to check for the best Air Canada deals well in advance since flights from Toronto often fluctuate in price, especially during peak vacation periods. Booking early can save a significant amount on airfare. When selecting accommodation, choosing a hotel like Best Western® Hotels & Resorts near Universal offers great value, especially with perks like complimentary breakfast. This not only saves money but also adds convenience, as it means you can start your day fueled without extra expenses. I found that proximity to the parks is key, especially when shuttle services are limited. Take into account shuttle schedules closely and be ready to walk if needed. Wearing comfortable shoes is crucial because walking 25 minutes between hotel and parks is common if shuttle timings don't align with your plans. For park tickets, multi-day multi-park passes offer flexibility. We optimized our visit by tackling Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure in one day, then dedicating a separate day to Epic Universe – the latest and highly recommended expansion. Planning your visit by checking park maps and scheduling rides ahead can maximize your time and minimize wait lines. Weather in Florida can be very unpredictable. When rain is forecasted, starting your day at Islands of Adventure, which has more indoor attractions, is a smart strategy. Make sure to bring a lightweight poncho or waterproof gear to stay dry without carrying bulky items. Speaking of packing, light is the way to go since locker sizes on rides are small. A compact backpack with only essentials will save time and hassle. Staying hydrated is essential in Florida’s heat, and I highly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. Free water refill stations around the parks provide cold ice water, which was a real lifesaver for me. Lastly, for thrill-seekers, the top rides I enjoyed were VelociCoaster, Revenge of the Mummy, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster. These rides offer intense and unforgettable experiences. Overall, the combination of being prepared for Florida’s climate, understanding transportation logistics, and smart ticket choices made my trip from Canada to Universal Orlando Resort smooth and truly fun. If you plan accordingly and keep these insider tips in mind, your visit will be just as rewarding!
