March’s posts of the day!
Healing after cancer treatment is often a complex and deeply personal journey that goes far beyond physical recovery. From my own experience, I’ve learned that rest is not just a luxury but an essential part of healing both body and mind. There are days when pushing forward feels impossible, and that’s okay because resetting and restoring are just as important. The mental and emotional challenges can sometimes feel heavier than the physical ones. Even when test results come back clear, the mind may still be processing trauma, doubts, and fears. I found that giving myself permission to feel both grace and guilt at the same time helped me embrace my progress without harsh judgment. Healing is not a straight line—it’s a series of small, often quiet victories that add up over time. Showing up matters. Whether it’s attending a simple event or reaching out for support, each step helps rebuild a sense of normalcy. I vividly remember the difference between being homebound during treatment and later sitting in the audience watching a loved one dance. It highlighted how presence can be a profound part of healing. Sometimes frustration comes from feeling behind or unsure—but moving forward at your own pace is still progress. Fear and excitement can coexist, reminding us that vulnerability is part of growth. Wanting to feel whole again is natural and necessary; reclaiming what was lost isn’t about vanity but about self-care and renewal. Taking the first step to start conversations or open new doors can be daunting, but it’s also when possibilities arise. Each day offers a new chance to choose grace and hope amid challenges. If you’re still processing your journey after cancer, know that you’re not alone—healing is a continuous process, and every small step forward is meaningful.
