Recent Scrapbook Spreads 🤎
First off, let me just say how incredibly happy I am that Lemon8 is back up and running! I have honestly grown attached to this app, even more so than I did Pinterest.
Here are two spreads that I did last night and this morning! Yesterday (January 18) was my 26th birthday! I spent the day at a crafting store/studio and just scrapbooked most of the day. It was honestly amazing and I got some more spreads done in my anniversary scrapbook (will be posting those soon).
Most of the items used in these spreads I brought from the studio I was at (Create That Studio in Rayne, LA). I scrapbooked my birthday spread using my candles from my cake and my favorite holiday/month.
What’s your favorite holiday? 🤎

It’s so wonderful to hear the excitement of diving back into scrapbooking! There’s truly nothing like the feeling of creating something tangible and personal, especially when it captures such special moments like a birthday or a favorite holiday. I absolutely love how you incorporated your birthday candles into your spread – what a creative and unique way to remember the day! It really shows how you can make a scrapbook truly your own, even when you're looking for fresh journal ideas beyond just photos. For those of us looking to create captivating scrapbook journal spreads, especially if we're aiming for ideas without pictures, there are so many avenues to explore. Think about all the little bits and pieces from your day-to-day life that tell a story. Instead of photos, you can use ephemera like ticket stubs from an event, a pressed flower from a walk, a wrapper from your favorite snack, or even a handwritten note from a friend. These items instantly add texture and a personal touch that photos sometimes can't capture in the same way. When I'm working on a journal spread and don't have specific pictures, I often focus on themes and colors. For instance, for a birthday spread like yours, beyond the candles, I might collect confetti, a piece of ribbon from a gift, or even just write down a list of what I'm grateful for that year. For a holiday theme, like Halloween, think about incorporating elements like spooky stickers, patterned papers, or even a small drawing of a pumpkin or ghost. You can also play with different fonts and hand-lettering styles to make quotes or journal entries stand out. Layering different types of paper – plain, patterned, translucent vellum – can also add depth and interest without needing a single image. Another great tip for scrapbook journal spreads without pictures is to focus on storytelling through words. Use your handwriting to fill pages with thoughts, memories, and aspirations. You can create mini-stories, lists, or even a 'day in the life' entry, much like a diary but with added decorative flair. I often find inspiration in old books or magazines for interesting fonts or color palettes. Don't be afraid to cut out words or phrases that resonate with you and collage them onto your page. This can add a strong visual element and convey a message without relying on traditional imagery. Visiting local craft stores, like the studio you mentioned, is also a fantastic way to discover unique supplies. Sometimes just seeing a new pack of stickers, a roll of washi tape, or a different kind of paper can spark an entirely new idea for a spread. Remember, the beauty of a scrapbook journal is its adaptability. It’s a space for your creativity to flow freely, documenting your life in a way that feels authentic to you, whether that's with lots of photos or by focusing on the charm of ephemera and thoughtful journaling. What are some of your favorite non-photo elements to include in your journal spreads?
