Anyone can fail you, even your parents (Part 1)

Episode Premieres April 29th 2026 🎙️❤️ Realizing your parents are just people is a different type of heartbreak.. But realizing it is also where your power starts. #ewpeoplethepodcast #parents #podcast

... Read moreComing to terms with the fact that our parents are human—imperfect and sometimes unable to meet our needs—can be a profound and challenging journey. From personal experience, acknowledging their limitations helped me shift from resentment towards healing and personal growth. One of the most powerful insights is understanding that parents often carry their own wounds and fears, passed down through generations. This recognition doesn't excuse hurtful behavior but offers a compassionate perspective that can set you free. For example, knowing that some parents raised you in survival mode helped me forgive their inability to fully appreciate my successes or even my moments of rest. It's also important to accept that some parents might never acknowledge their failures or apologize. This realization propelled me to find closure within myself rather than waiting for external validation. Taking this step allowed me to reclaim my power and rebuild the parts of my life where I felt abandoned. Honoring what my parents gave me, while clearly identifying what was missing, became a guiding principle for growth. It reminded me that I can honor their efforts without being confined by their shortcomings. This balance is key to moving forward without bitterness. Lastly, I found that success can sometimes intimidate parents who didn’t have the same opportunities. Recognizing this shifted how I navigate family dynamics and has fostered healthier relationships. Overall, embracing these steps can be a liberating process, leading not only to self-acceptance but also to developing a deeper understanding of family complexities. This journey has helped me transform heartbreak into empowerment, and I hope it can do the same for others.
